Moving travels to TX!

We left to TX in our moving van on the 27th of December at 0600. Brrr....it was so cold, I think it was below zero in Flagstaff that morning! It didn't take Mini long to get comfortable on her bed we made for her in between our seats. She seemed to enjoy our lengthy trip, but of course was very anxious every time we made a stop. So we drove for 12 hours to Lubbock, TX, and were so ready for the yummy chicken enchiladas and beans my mom made. MMMMM... yummy! So we had a good night sleep and a shower and off we went the next morning. This time we only had to drive 6 hours to get to Temple, TX. This of course was so nice compared to the previous day of travels. So in the end we made it safe and sound to our new home. One negative was having to wait 45 minutes for the apartment agent to show up from her lunch break so we could sign our lease and get our keys. That was ANNOYING, but other than that our trip was wonderful. We enjoyed the adventure!!

NM = yucky...sorry to anyone who loves NM!

Round Two...

So a few days after graduation we flew out to Temple, TX for our critical care nurse internship interviews (that was a mouth full). We were treated so well during our travels thanks to Scott and White Healthcare. They payed for our hotel room at The Hilton, a nice rental car with a GPS, and our plane tickets. We were super excited to travel out there four our interview, but of course very nervous as well. We more than ever wanted this internship. Not only was it in an ICU(our passion), but at a very prestigious teaching hospital with level 1 trauma.

We flew on the plane..

Found our way out of the airport via our GPS in our rental car!

Joey drove.....and drove..

We made it to our hotel. You could see the hospital from the hotel! Very nice!

Here we are before the interview! Yikes, we look so nervous!

That evening after our lengthy interview, we decided to email our potential new boss to thank him for his time. Then it was off to Austin for some exploring.

Texas State Capitol (Austin, TX)

So as you can see we made it to a BEAUTIFUL building. We decided to go to the Texas State Capitol. It was so neat! We want to go back there during the day when the museum is open. We had a lot of fun and after this we decided to just drive around downtown Austin.

Here is a picture of the entire capitol and during the day:

We Did It !!

WE FINALLY DID IT !!

Mr & Mrs. Graduate Nurse

( I decorated our caps, which was tons of fun! We our so excited to move to Texas and start our jobs, that I just had to put the Texas flag on our caps!! )

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The ceremony was emotionally overwhelming for the both of us, as you can probrably tell from the pictures Joey's family took of us during the ceremony.

Well we would love to say thank you to our family and friends that were able to make it our graduation. It was so great to have you all there to support us on our special day!

*More pictures to come soon, waiting on the professional pictures....

Blizzard in Flagstaff

These were of course taken the morning when the snow first started...Oh boy were we in for it!

This of course was maybe a few hours later..STILL SNOWING!!

Joey decided around 11pm last night to try and clear some of the snow away from the car, but the winds and the snow was ridiculous at this point. We then lost power which made it even more crazy!

So I lit some candles and stayed warm inside with Mini...

Mini watching...

Me, Mini, and Joey sitting on the front porch!! haha

I somehow mingled my way downtown the next morning to meet Jayme(BFF) for coffee, these were the sights downtown. :-)

Scott & White...Another Possible Job

Joey and I got a call the other day from Scott & White Hospital and Clinic in Temple, Tx. Located about an hour north of Austin. We had applied to this hospital before we went out to Dallas for our other nurse interviews.

Scott and White Healthcare is " The Mayo Clinic of Texas." It is known as the teaching hospital and location of Texas A&M's medical school, which means a lot of experience for us! Being the only level one trauma center between San Antonio and Dallas. This means everything comes to this hospital, and more specifically TRAUMA. It is recognized as a top 100 hospital in the country and among one of the top 15 teaching hospitals in the country.

The nurse recruiter was very excited about us. She stated we were the first to get our applications in and we were from out of state, which meant a lot to them. They wanted us to come out to Temple after graduation and offered to pay for our rental car, plane tickets, and hotel room. Of course we were way excited. So Dec. 14th two days after graduation we are flying out to Texas again...this time for critical care internship interviews and not emergency room internship interviews. So wish us luck, this is the job we REALLY want!! Yee-haw!

Here is a virtual tour of the hospital if you are interested:
