Well change is rapidly approaching for us...don't worry, were not moving , YET(were here at least till Jan)! haha..So Joey and I are going to be doing registry nursing. Registry nursing is when you work for an agency that provide nurses to hospitals for a day that are short nurses.
Benefits:
-much better pay $$$
-flexibility
-no work drama and/or politics
-get to experience working for different hospitals
Cons:
- benefits can be more expensive
-potential to not get hours one week (very unlikely, but more likely in the summer) (We have talked to many registry nurses and they said they have only had this happen to them once when they didn't get hours one week during the summer, but they said it really never happens....key point is to save just in case)
-not knowing where your working till the morning of
So an example of how it works:
*Joey will tell his agency that he can work next Sunday, Monday, Tuesday
*They call him every one of those days at 0500, then offer him to work at St. Joe's in the neuro ICU or John C. Lincoln in the Medical ICU..so he tells them which one he wants, then he shows up that day..
Well, hopefully that makes a bit of sense ! :-)
Good luck!
